A team of young Montenegrin robotics enthusiasts won the third place at the “First Global Challenge” Olympics in Singapore, competing against 191 countries.
Through the support of Europe House, the Ministry of Science and Finance, the Municipality of Kotor, as well as the companies Infinum and Platanus Kotor, this young team led by Nina Drakulić and Biljana Krivokapić represented and promoted their country in the best possible way.
Bojana Moracanin, Milos Milicevic, Lazar Milicevic, Matija Popovic, and David Labovic were the participants of the Montenegrin roboticists team “Montenegrobotics.”
“Our young robotics enthusiasts have created a special system completely different from the rest of the world, showing that they think and work outside the box,” said one of the team’s mentors, Nina Drakulić.
Montenegro competed in this competition for the seventh consecutive time, and this time our team returned home with two awards from the prestigious Olympics. The “Montenegrobotics” team won the third place in the overall ranking and the award for the best technical solution for robot construction worldwide.
This year’s competition theme was “Hydrogen Horizons,” namely, the popularisation of technology based on the use of hydrogen and renewable energy sources. The game presented a challenge in which teams worked on building networks of renewable energy, demonstrating the collective effort needed for the development of sustainable energy. Teams had to manage their robots in a simulated game to produce hydrogen and use it for storage, transport, and energy conversion.
