Podgorica, 1 February 2016 – Montenegrin farmers and food-processing companies are being invited today to apply for grant support through the project IPARD like 2.2. A total of €2.8 million of funds is available, provided by the European Union, with participation from the national budget. The deadline for the submission of applications in response to this public call is 31 March 2017.
The support is intended for farmers from the dairy sector, fisheries and aquaculture, as well as those engaged in the processing and packaging of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, aromatic herbs, olive oil and other olive products and wine. Beneficiaries can also be slaughterhouses and breeders of cattle, sheep, goats, broiler chickens and turkeys, and pigs. The aim of the support provided through this project is to strengthen the food production sector in Montenegro through the promotion of food business operators and the implementation of national and EU standards in the area of food safety.
The investments range from €15,000 to €250,000, and applicants who meet the requirements and sign an investment contract will receive a refund of 50% of their investment.
Farmers can apply for, among other things, the renovation or construction of processing facilities, procurement of equipment and machinery for manufacturing, but also for the purchase of systems for the production of energy from renewable sources, equipment and machinery for packaging, labelling and storage of finished products, or for the cleaning of their facilities, ventilation, water supply, electricity and sewerage networks, wastewater treatment and other systems.
