EU Ambassador Johann Sattler visits Bar and Ulcinj

EU Ambassador Johann Sattler visited Bar and Ulcinj as part of his first official visit to the southern region of Montenegro. During his visit, he met with local government leaders and visited several landmarks, including the Ulcinj Salina, Old Town of Bar, and beneficiaries of EU-funded projects in these two municipalities.

In Bar, Ambassador Sattler met with the Mayor of Bar, Dušan Raičević.

His visit to the Old Town of Bar, the largest urban complex of ruins in Montenegro, included a tour of sites restored through multiple EU-funded projects. The Ambassador also viewed a tactile map of the Old Town of Bar, a bronze depiction of the site designed for people with disabilities, which was set up through an EU project.

Meeting with the NGO “Women of Bar”

Ambassador Sattler also visited the non-governmental organisation “Women of Bar,” which provides humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable groups in the local community. The organisation prepares 250 meals daily for children, single mothers, persons with disabilities, and the homeless. Supported by the EU and international partners, this organisation exemplifies solidarity and mutual support.

In Ulcinj, the EU Delegation was hosted by the Mayor of Ulcinj, Genci Nimanbegu.

Ambassador Sattler also visited the Ulcinj Salina, a symbol of sustainable development in Montenegro. The European Union has supported initiatives to protect this unique ecosystem, which is home to numerous bird species and holds significant potential for eco-tourism development.
