Let’s celebrate Europe Day together in Bar

Music, flowers, the EU Fair, virtual reality by the Adriatic coast

This year’s central celebration of Europe Day will be organised on 6 May in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and local authorities in Bar. The celebration will begin at noon with the ceremonial opening of the flower carpet, which will traditionally be placed on the promenade in Bar,, modeled according  to the one that is placed in Brussels, symbolising unity, solidarity, and harmony.

The flower carpet, inspired by coastal motifs, will be weaved from 24 thousand locally grown flower seedlings which will be planted in the city’s green areas as a gift from the EU to the city of Bar. This unique carpet will decorate Bar’s promenade until 13 May. Local companies such as: 2nd December, Kalamper, Racc, Gold and Allegra Cruises, and the Tourist Organiation of Bar supported the realisation of the floral carpet with an area of 130 square meters.

In honour of Europe Day, at the start of the ceremony, Montenegrin opera diva Tamara Radjenovic will perform the anthem of Europe and Montenegro. Tamara Radjenovic is a world-renowned artist, who was recently included in the prestigious Forbes list of the most influential people under the age of 30 in the field of art and culture.

A fair of embassies of the EU member states accredited in Montenegro and beneficiaries of projects financed by the European Union or the Municipality of Bar will be held at the city waterfront. The programme will also include entertainment for children and their parents.

This year, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the wonderful world of pollinators – the Pollinator Park. The Pollinator Park is a combination of a zoo, a theme park, an interactive museum, and a crystal ball that takes us to the year 2050 and reveals what kind of future awaits us if we do not start protecting the bees and their buzzing friends.

On the same evening, a concert will also be held featuring the Kotor-based hip-hop duo Who See, the rock band AkademiA, as well as the rapper Random from Podgorica and Sara Kurgaš. The end of the evening is reserved for a DJ set by DJ Stamina and the Bizarr Duo.

Noyz and Dedduh, the Who See duo, have been in the music game since 2000. To date, they have released four albums, while their fifth one is set to be released in the summer. Their song Bar-Bari is an unofficial anthem of the generation. Noyz and Dedduh have not performed in Bar in the last five years.

Random is one of the Balkans best MCs. He is the holder of three Rap Skillz titles, and creator of several EPs and LPs, both as a solo artist and as a member of the Dzej Dzej Okocha crew. His solo album “Eo vidji” from last year received high praise from both the audience and critics, and already has a cult status. This will be Random’s first solo performance in Bar, where he will present his opus through a dynamic set. KURGASHIAN – Sara Kurgaš comes from Bar. After the single “Sarah Tonin,” she released the song “Halal.”

The Bar-based rock band “AkademiA” has been around since 2008. It is composed of experienced musicians who have played in all the influential Bar groups from the late 1980s until today: “Carlo V,” “Bellmondo,” “Don Kihot,” “Katapult,” and “Ponocni ritam.”

We’re excited to welcome you on 6 May. Join us in celebrating Europe Day together on Bar’s promenade.
