Human rights is one of the most important concepts in modern times. This project contributed to raising public awareness and enhancing understanding of human rights and discrimination, as well as to promoting the work and accomplishments of human rights defenders. More than 4,000 citizens visited the screenings within the ninth edition of the FAST FORWARD Human Rights Film Festival. Furthermore, a special survey was conducted among citizens from 17 municipalities to assess the perception of discrimination. The project also resulted in a film about human rights defenders and their accomplishments, which was promoted on social media. In addition, the media were also encouraged to monitor and investigate cases of human rights violations and discrimination, with the top three investigative articles on human rights and discrimination winning a prize.
Moreover, the “360° – Full Circle for Human Rights” project encouraged civic engagement in promoting human rights and anti-discrimination in Montenegro. It helped strengthen the capacities of local civil society organisations in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of policies and practices adopted by the authorities in the fight against discrimination and protection of human rights. This included successful completion of a training course on a human rights monitoring and reporting methodology for 20 representatives of local organisations. As a follow-up, the trained representatives documented and analysed the state of human rights in Montenegro and took part in the development and promotion of the Human Rights Barometer – a report on the human rights situation in Montenegro with recommendations for relevant institutions.
Within the 18-month implementation period, this project promoted the “education without discrimination” concept in the Montenegrin education system. It contributed to the development of the capacities of teachers and support services for the prevention of discrimination in educational institutions and secondary schools. Furthermore, the project enabled the introduction of the Red Line – a helpline whose purpose is to provide support to young people facing human rights violations and discrimination in education. This was all accompanied by an effective on social media campaign aimed at promoting manuals and available support services for young people facing discrimination.
