Infrastructure improvement and maintenance remains one of the most important prerequisites for economic development and better quality of life. In other words, developing an efficient transportation system is necessary for ensuring both economic and social prosperity in any country, including Montenegro.
This project aims at ensuring regular power supply for overhead contact lines and better conditions for train traction. It focuses on the reconstruction of the Trebešica electric traction substation with a view to improving power supply and eliminating possible outages at times of failure. Also, the use of cutting-edge technologies will decrease the need for diesel locomotives and reduce the negative environmental impact of the substation.
This project is expected to help eliminate constraints related to the number of electric locomotives that may operate in parallel on the “Bioče – Trebešica” railway section, contribute to the attractiveness of rail transport and foster its future development.
The project financed two contracts: one related to “The design and construction of the Trebešica electric traction substation”, which was implemented in accordance with FIDIC Yellow Book; and the other one related to “The review of the main design and the supervision of the execution of works”.
