No impunity for the past!

Dealing with the past is a long and painful, but a very much needed process. It is the only way for a post-conflict society to move from a divided past to a shared future and achieve lasting stability.

This project helped raise public awareness about the war crimes committed in the territory of Montenegro during the breakup of Yugoslavia, especially among young people, while also enhancing the process of fighting against impunity for such crimes.

Furthermore, it has contributed to improving the dialogue between the Parliament and relevant stakeholders in terms of war crimes and transitional justice. That was achieved by the establishment of the Research Information Centre, in which a relevant documentation about war crimes committed in the territory of Montenegro is being archived. Also, this helped to facilitate the work of civil society organisations, which were provided with more inputs and information for the purpose of their research about war crimes.

In short, this project supported the reconciliation process and creating a better, stronger and future-oriented society in Montenegro.
