Discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity has no place in modern society. Everyone should enjoy the same rights.
This project focused on the human rights of LGBTI people. More specifically, it aimed to strengthen the capacities of civil society, local communities and public institutions in terms of supporting the process of democratisation and promotion of LGBTI human rights. By doing so, the project helped the development and consolidation of democracy and the rule of law in general, as well as to respect for all human rights and fundamental freedoms in Montenegro.
In particular, the project activities were focused on:
- Decreasing homophobia/transphobia in local communities with special emphasis on disadvantaged areas in Montenegro, and increasing their capacities and knowledge;
- Ensuring the creation and monitoring of the implementation of strategic documents and legal regulations addressing the quality of life of LGBTI persons;
- Improving the safety and security of LGBTI persons through enhanced institutional capacities;
- Facilitating access of LGBTI persons to employment by making them better informed and increasing their capacities;
- Improving the social context surrounding the human rights of LGBTI persons in Montenegro.
The project ended in December 2021.
