Promoting sustainable use of medicinal and aromatic plants for livelihood improvement and biodiversity conservation

Medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) are globally treasured sources of herbal products. In many countries they are disappearing at a high speed, so it is important to manage them in a sustainable way.

This project is aimed at offering the know-how and instruments to local stakeholders to ensure a more efficient and nature-friendly MAPs management in the targeted municipalities of Plav (Montenegro) and Tropojë (Albania).

More precisely, the project activities will strengthen the capacities of public institutions in both municipalities for better monitoring of the MAPs situation in the area. The action will also raise awareness and knowledge among the local population, especially young people, to manage medicinal and aromatic plants in a sustainable way, which will put a different perspective on self-employment and contribute to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation in the cross-border area.
