EU Resource Centre for civil society organisations in Montenegro

Strong and empowered civil society organizations (CSOs) are essential for creating a sustainable society. This project aims to support CSOs to contribute actively to the development of participatory democracy in Montenegro.

Specifically, the project seeks to improve the capacities of CSOs to be effective and responsible independent actors and to contribute to an environment that is conducive to civil society. In this respect, the EU Resource Centre for civil society organisations in Montenegro offers a range of capacity building programmes, training courses, meetings, public gatherings, conferences and networking events to all CSOs all around the country.

The EU Resource Centre is a “home of activism”. It represents a service centre for daily support to civil society organisations, but also to individual activists in their work. It provides help-desk services, legal and financial counselling, as well as support in the development and submission of civic initiatives. In parallel with that, the EU Resource Centre continuously works on legislative changes with a view to enabling the smooth operation of CSOs, while strongly advocating their implementation.

The EU Resource Centre is a consortium of 4 local resource centres located in Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Ulcinj and Herceg Novi, and one national centre located in Podgorica. The project is expected to improve the quality of service provided by local resource centres. Also, the project activities will help enhance the capacities of CSOs and CSO networks for organisational development, long-term planning, sustainability, efficiency and participation in decision-making. In addition, it will contributed to a better environment in which CSOs operate.
