Upgrading the IT capacity of the Tax Administration in Montenegro

Stable revenue flow is crucial for ensuring macroeconomic stability and greater foreign direct investment. In that regard, each country needs to improve its overall business environment and ensure revenue collection.

This project focuses on supporting the Tax Administration to achieve the highest possible budget revenues in the current (epidemiological) situation, particularly by developing e-services. Also, it helps ensure tax compliance by taking three strategic directions: education of taxpayers, inspections and collection of tax liabilities.

More precisely, the project supports the upgrading of the IT Capacity of the Tax Administration in Montenegro. The upgrade will help establish e-communication with taxpayers, as well as e-services, which will improve the efficiency of the Tax Administration. This means that taxpayers will have an option to file VAT and income tax returns via a web portal. Also, that will result in reduced paperwork and increased collection/control of certain forms of income. In other words, this project will contribute to improving administrative capacities for tax collection, which will support Montenegro’s efforts relating to EU accession and economic integration with EU Member States.
