Slovenia has donated 42,000 doses of Moderna’s Vaccine to Montenegro, with a total value of over one million euros. This is the first donation of this type of vaccine, which has not been available in Montenegro so far. Slovenian Ambassador Gregor Presker reminded that Slovenia has so far donated protective equipment worth over 200,000 euros to Montenegro on two occasions. Presker said that with the donation of vaccines, Slovenia has additionally shown solidarity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and that it will continue to help Montenegro in combating the pandemic.

“It also proves how good the relations between our two countries are, that we are close and that is why we want Slovenia to be more present and provide assistance and support to Montenegro in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” Presker said.

Presker reminded that Slovenia has so far donated more than two million doses of vaccines to Montenegro and other countries, both bilaterally and through the COVAX mechanism, and that since 2020 it has allocated almost 12 million euros to developing countries for the fight against COVID-19.

State Secretary in the Ministry of Health Veljo Čađenović said that Slovenia, with this donation of vaccines, confirmed that it is a great friend of Montenegro and a good neighbour, always ready to help, especially in the challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Slovenia, as always, has proven to be a great friend of Montenegro, and the relevant ministry and the Government are very grateful for everything and we will strive to make relations between the two countries even better,” said Čađenović at the handover of the donation.

Čađenović pointed out that thanks to the donation, Montenegro will now offer Moderna’s vaccine as well and appealed to everyone to get vaccinated.
