Croatia and Hungary, as members of the European Union, donated two packages of medical equipment to Montenegro. Croatia donated 50,000 surgical masks, 2,000 liters of medical alcohol, 2,000 visors, and 1,000 protective medical glasses. Hungary donated 50,000 surgical masks and 2,500 protective medical suits.

The Government of Montenegro assessed that these are examples of solidarity and humanity. During the handover of the equipment, the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Montenegro, Veselko Grubišić, stated that Croatia wants to show good neighborly solidarity to Montenegro and praised the cooperation with the Montenegrin state institutions during the coronavirus epidemic.

The Minister of Interior, Mevludin Nuhodžić, thanked the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

“In these difficult and demanding times, solidarity, togetherness, and friendship are necessary and priceless. Montenegro has a sincere and true friend in Croatia. The citizens of Montenegro feel that, and they especially appreciate the support that Croatia provides to Montenegro in the process of European integration,” Nuhodzic said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Hungary, Peter Sijarto, personally delivered the equipment to Montenegro and on that occasion met with his Montenegrin colleague, Srđan Darmanović. He praised the efficiency and measures taken by the Government of Montenegro in dealing with the global health crisis.

“This is a gesture of solidarity and humanity, but also a confirmation that the allies support each other in difficult and challenging times,” said Minister Darmanović.

Referring to the consequences for the world as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the interlocutors emphasised the importance of the financial support that the European Union has committed to the Western Balkans. It is also the largest so far, which once again proved the solidarity and geostrategic thinking of the Union, despite the current challenges.
