The first ČEK – a psychological workshop on the occasion of Mental Health Day

What ego states exist and how do they govern us? Why is it important to establish inner contracts with ourselves? What is Transactional Analysis? We discussed all these topics yesterday at the psychology workshop “Meeting with Yourself,” which we organised on the occasion of International Mental Health Day, in cooperation with the Centre for Psychological Counselling OKTA.

For four hours, psychotherapist Žarko Ivanović talked about unconscious patterns of behaviour, which are often obstacles on our path to success, happiness, and health. We will also be offering answers and other possibilities in order to support our own wellbeing. The workshop, which was free of charge, brought together over 20 participants who registered online.

Mental health care is a very important area in the policies of the European Union. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen recently announced a new EU initiative on mental health in her State of the European Union speech, which is to be presented in 2023.

“We should take better care of each other. And for many who feel anxious and lost, appropriate, accessible, and affordable support can make all the difference,” von der Leyen said as she announced the initiative.

We organised the psychology workshop as part of our new activity – Thursdays at the Europe House (ČEK) – within which we plan to organise interesting events every second Thursday of the month, such as workshops, lectures, panel discussions, exhibitions, book promotions, etc. We will dedicate the next ČEK event to the promotion of Pollinator Park, the wonderful world of pollinators in virtual reality. Visitors who sign up for this experience will have the opportunity to try on the Oculus VR glasses and “walk” through the virtual world of pollinating insects. In November, we plan to promote the children’s book “Đurđa introduces you to the snakes of Montenegro,” authored by Bojana Uskoković Krvavac. If you are interested in finding out what else we plan to organise until the end of the year, we suggest that you follow the notifications on our website and social networks, where we will publish timely invitations to join us in “CHECKing.”
