POWER – People with disabilities: New opportunities for work, employability and professional rehabilitation

Ensuring equal employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs) is of great importance for their social inclusion. However, these people still face hurdles in the labour market and have lower employment rates than the rest of the population.

For that reason, this project aimed at increasing employability and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities in the cross-border area of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the implementation period, more than 120 PWDs had the opportunity to participate in the project and attend a capacity building programme. Also, 21 PWDs were part of the POWER internship programme, which enabled them to develop professional skills and acquire knowledge that will help them to integrate into the workplace environment.

Persons with disabilities in the cross-border area also received online career guidance and support thanks to the interactive internet platform. In addition to that, Berane (Montenegro) and Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) hosted two job fairs for PWDs. The job fairs featured two workshops on public support for the employment of persons with disabilities, as well as active job search with concrete examples of good practices.

In short, this project helped develop a better environment for the employment of PWDs and boost their employment opportunities in the cross-border area.
