“Days of European Film” festival opened

The “Days of European Film” festival kicked off in Montenegro with the projection of “When We Leave”, a film of Turkish and German coproduction, in the “Budo Tomovic” Cultural Information Centre. With the showing this film in Podgorica, a touring caravan of European film has started, which will last until 28 September, during which audiences in six different cities across Montenegro will have the opportunity to see new European film productions. The festival is being organised by the EU Delegation in Montenegro, with the support of the EU Info Centre, in cooperation with the embassies of EU member states.

“I want to thank the embassies that have allocated time and chosen films produced recently in Europe which, I believe, the audience will enjoy here in Podgorica, as well as in Tivat, Kotor, Niksic, Bijelo Polje and Pljevlja,” said Patrick Schmelzer from the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro, opening the festival.

The audience in Podgorica will have the opportunity to see until 11 September five films of Italian, Swedish, Lithuanian, Dutch, French and Romanian production.

“The ‘Budo Tomovic’ Cultural Information Centre is honoured tonight, together with the EU Delegation in Podgorica and the EU Info Centre, for the first time, to co-organise the event ‘Days of European Film’. Montenegro is a photogenic country. Every nook and cranny is a beautiful film frame. This has been known throughout Europe and the world for centuries. I believe that in our country there will be even more understanding for film art, but also that European film makers will be even more present in the region,” said Snezana Burzan, the director of ‘Budo Tomovic’.

All screenings are free of charge. The touring caravan of European film, besides Podgorica, will visit Tivat on 12–14 September, Niksic on 13–15 September, Pljevlja on 16–18 September, Bijelo Polje on 19–21 September and Kotor on 26–28 September.
