An overview of our activities on the occasion of Human Rights Day

On the occasion Human Rights Day, together with the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and our partners, we are organizing several activities. First up is the photo exhibition #ZAPITAJ_SE (#ASK_YOURSELF), dedicated to combating gender-based violence, which we opened mid-November. Our now traditional online prize game “Human Rights in the Palm of Your Hand” started today, and the opening of a new photo exhibition in Europe House is planned for tonight. The European Union in Montenegro will also participate in the activities organized by the Council of Europe, the Office of the Ombudsman and the NGO Civic Alliance (Građanska alijansa) on the occasion of Human Rights Day.

Online prize game “Human Rights in the Palm of Your Hand” in cooperation with the company Alicorn

from December 1 to December 10, www.pravanadlanu.me

Our traditional online prize game “Human Rights in the Palm of Your Hand”, which we have prepared in cooperation with the company Alicorn, is currently taking place. The game, available on the website www.pravanadlanu.me, started today and will last until December 10, when we plan to announce the winner. The game consists of different fields dedicated to human rights, along which the contestants move by rolling a dice. Everyone who scores 50 or more points out of the possible 81, qualifies for a prize – a package of luxury EU promo materials, signed by domestic fashion and jewellery designers. We will choose three winners by random selection from the database of qualified competitors and publish the results on our social networks.

Photo exhibition “Kings and Queens” organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands

from December 1 to December 14, Europe House

The photo exhibition “Kings and Queens” by Dutch photographer Leon Hendrickk and drag artist Micha Schneijderberg, better known as Snorella, will be opened tonight at 5 pm in Europe House. The exhibition, organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands, is an internationally recognized series of photographs of drag kings and queens with their other halves: themselves. Each photograph shows two personalities of the same person, by using photo editing. The exhibition will be open until December 14.

Photo exhibition #ZAPITAJ_SE at the Faculty of Law

Our campaign dedicated to the fight against gender-based violence called #ZAPITAJ_SE (#ASK_YOURSELF), organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and Europe House in cooperation with the Football Association of Montenegro, NGO Attack and the Association of Psychologists, is still ongoing. The central part of the campaign are the photos made using double exposure technique, merging photos of women and broken objects, through which the artist, Ms Nada Vojinović, indicates that the abuser perceives the person he is committing violence against as an object, not as a human being. The photos are accompanied by strong psychological messages, with the aim of making the viewer question and reconsider their attitudes and behaviours, which can lead to, support or justify violence.

The first exhibition was organized at the city football stadium in Podgorica during the match Montenegro-Slovakia, and after that in Europe House. The next address will be the Faculty of Law of Montenegro, where the exhibition will be on display from December 5.

In cooperation with the University of Montenegro, the same photographs, but in smaller format, will be permanently exhibited at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, as well as at the Faculties of Economics, Medicine, Civil Engineering and Architecture in Podgorica. You can view the photos and other content of the campaign on the Europe House’s social media sites.
